DR. PHUONG-MAI NGUYEN VISITED ASIA-FINLAND LAW CONSULTING

June 12, 2016

Dr. Mai Phuong Nguyen, a lecturer and popular trainer from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, was invited as a key speaker to the annual meeting of Finland-ASEAN trade association on May 27, 2016 at WTC, Helsinki. Her presentation under the heading “Asia, which Asia?” dealt with the results of her new research on cultural differences between different Asian countries, eg. Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Idia, Singapore.

According to Dr. Nguyen, although Asian countries share several similarities in terms of social norms and business culture, such as hierarchy and harmony, people should pay attention to certain important differences in different Asian countries. For example, a negotiation in Japan begins differently than in Vietnam and elsewhere; building a business in South Korea is quite different from Singapore. Understanding the local business life is one of the keys to achieving goals.
